Two different jobs

Descript turns a recording into an editable document: delete a sentence from the transcript and it disappears from the audio and video. It adds screen recording, AI voices, dubbing and exports to Premiere, Final Cut and Pro Tools.

BlaBlaScribe stops at the text: a speaker-labelled transcript you can correct, translate, summarise and export as subtitles or documents. If you don’t need to edit the media itself, you pay less and work in more languages.

Minutes vs media hours

Descript plans include “media hours”, and every file you import counts — b-roll, music and takes you never transcribe. Hobbyist includes 10 media hours for $24 a month ($16 billed yearly). BlaBlaScribe counts only the minutes you transcribe: 600 for $14 a month ($11 yearly).

Languages

Descript transcribes 25 languages and translates captions into 61, with translation and dubbing paid for in AI credits. BlaBlaScribe transcribes 120+ languages and includes translation into 50+ from its Creator plan.

Where Descript is the better choice

If you produce podcasts or videos and want to cut them by editing text, add AI voice-overs or dub into other languages, Descript is a full editor and BlaBlaScribe isn’t. Many creators use both: Descript for the edit, BlaBlaScribe for transcripts and subtitles in languages Descript doesn’t cover.
